"Statement as of 2:49 AM EST on December 05, 2007
... Snow Advisory now in effect from 8 am this morning to 8 PM EST
this evening...

Low pressure over the Midwest early this morning will move south
of the mid Atlantic this afternoon and evening. Light snow is
expected to develop across the area between 8 am and 10 am. The
snow may intensify for a period during the afternoon... before
ending this evening. 1 to 2 inches of snow is expected... except
perhaps locally higher amounts across central Virginia near the
Charlottesville area.

A Snow Advisory means that periods of snow will cause primarily
travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and
limited visibilities... and use caution while driving."

Schools are on delay and could cancel classes. People are ffrrrrrreaking out over 1-2 inches of snow. Stock up on your essentials; we're going into the bombshelter until this whole thing blows over.

1-2 inches of snow?!? You might get your shoes wet, and that would certainly be a disaster. See, now, we knew you wouldn't be safe all the way out there, beyond the reach of the Schrock fold. Go buy some water, and matches.

No shit. Anything other than sunlight falls out of the sky and the city shuts down. I used to hear stories about places like this while growing up in the land of 100 degree summers and -20 degree winters, but I never really believed them.

I remember having an ice storm a few years ago and the only people at work the next day were me and a guy from Canada. Same thing the last year and it was me and a guy from Chicago.

The weather might be an interesting geographical litmus test - if you can't drive over 35mph when there is frost on the rooftops then you're probably from central Ohio. If two inches of fresh snow means you leave for work 10 minutes early, then people think you must have grown up in Siberia.
